Prevention
Security – The school will purchase locks for the lockers. Only school locks may be used. The school will keep an extra key or the combination to the lock. Students may waive their right to have a lock, with the understanding this will limit their security. The school assumes no responsibility for any losses.
State of the Community Day – An annual school-wide State of the Community Daywill be held to focus on rights, responsibilities, and respect
Notification
Missing items will be reported on a missing items form.
The staff will decide whether an item is reported as missing or stolen after consultation with the person reporting the item gone.
Response
A Community Meeting will be held to publicize the missing item and problem-solve/brainstorm solutions.
Tips
Tips may be placed in the Prop Box, which will be screened daily, or may be sent to advisors electronically.
Staff will follow up on all tips, signed or anonymous, in a manner deemed appropriate.
A public list of stolen and lost items will be posted in the school and on First Class.
Consequences
Consequences remain the same as what is listed on the MC2 Poor Behavior Choices protocol.
The person responsible will be required to make a public apology.
